What makes J. Swaminathan’s work distinctive is that it emerges from a highly personal space and his own experiences. In this Untitled painting, the artist probes the relation of colour to space, also exploring his interest towards folk motifs and tantra iconography, which is revealed in the patterns on display. Swaminathan’s loyalty to colour, form, and texture, is exemplified here, as is his particularness to create works that are personal.
