Bireswar Sen’s paintings are born from an ideological path that the artist decided to traverse, synthesising the styles inspired by the Bengal School, Japanese artists, and most of all, Nicholas Roerich, to create his own visual vocabulary. Colour and form are integral to Sen’s art, done mostly in miniature format, as are spirituality and meditation, which Sen craves for and—subsequently—achieves in his work. There is fluidity in Sen’s work, as is evident in The Dark Forest, urging us to engage further with it.
