At one point of his career, V. B. Pathare painted several seascapes. These showed his skill as an artist and the fine manner in which he painted various elements, including the skies, the water, boats docked or at sea, besides people and other areas of nearby settlements. Though trained in academic realism, Pathare was always keen to see the response of colour on various surfaces that he painted on. This Untitled seascape shows how texture mattered to Pathare to convey the strength of his subject in any genre.
