Collage, charcoal, conte and etching on handmade paper
Science, mathematics and astronomy found their way into a lifelong art practice of Rm. Palaniappan, interested as he was in the subjects even as a child. Deploying strategies in abstraction, Palaniappan creates in Oxford Page X2, an imposing visual showing his strength in creating movement and rhythm through lines, even if there is no concrete existence of any specific picture. The artist’s understanding of the vastness of form and the formless along with the limitations of mankind to grasp what lies beyond makes his works, including this one, intriguing.
