From the start of his career, Akbar Padamsee was fascinated by the human face. His portraits are an investigation with the artist peering gently to create human faces that are sombre, full of soul and reflecting a rare energy that the artist successfully captures. While Padamsee strongly believed that a single figure could exude powerful expressions, he also found it interesting to work in shades of grey in his career in a bid to search for a visual idiom.
