Dhruva Mistry’s paintings and drawings, particularly of female figures, are strongly reminiscent of the sculptural language of forms and the artist’s interest in eclectic traditions. Moreover, his work is a meeting of two cultures, European modernism and Indian classical traditions, built in a language that’s strongly individualistic and personal. His female nudes, such as the Running Figure, especially, reflect a classical style even as the contemporary features of these heroines bely the pure form of classicism. The confluence of artistic cultures in Mistry's work makes it compelling.
