Like most artists at the time, Devayani Krishna too was drawn to the esoteric nature of tantra as a point of reference and inspiration. In this work with its sacred symbols, the inference to tantra is only too obvious in the triangles, circles and squares that appear layered sharply, almost in relief. Krishna uses the geometry to set up her own complex idea of its ancient philosophy— away from the trending populism to which it was otherwise subjected in art.
