Asit Kumar Haldar’s work of the Forties shows the artist’s keen affinity towards experimentation in art, bearing influences of artistic movements that were taking shape in the west. A noted artist and a teacher, Haldar introduced his students to various styles and techniques, quite possibly, infusing a lot of that in his own art practice. In some of Haldar’s work done in the Forties, we find strong cubist lines and conical shapes, rendered in a colour palette that enhances the visual dimension.
