Known for his illustrations, Asit Kumar Haldar paints here a pet parrot singing lyrics, told from its perspective. Rendered immaculately by the artist in academic realist style, to reveal its beautiful green body and a bright red beak, the bird here presents a picture of comfort, surveying its surroundings carefully. Nandalal Bose, with whom Haldar worked closely, used to paint and scribble on his postcards, which he used to send to his loved ones. It is a possibility that Haldar chose to do similarly in his art.
