F. N. Souza’s heads were created from a very rich visual vocabulary that he developed from his own experiences. In an interview with art writer Yashodhara Dalmia, he said, ‘When you examine the human face, the morphology, I am the only artist who has taken it a step further. I have been working on the human head for a long time and finally I feel I have the right art.’ This work from the Eighties exemplifies Souza’s rich visual vocabulary and accomplishment in the genre.
