Jagadish Dey creates here a fascinating still life—almost reminding one of a similarly striking composition by Paramjit Singh—where he immerses himself in an alternative reality as an artist, succumbing to his visualisation of strange shapes amidst stranger backdrops. This inventive work, in fact, brings together Dey’s fondness for both, landscape and the still-life genres. The lone vase in front of a draped window, which in turn gets a dimension of its own, the geometrical constructs, the vivid colour palette, add to the mystery.
