In Jagadish Dey’s surrealistic work, Dream Flight, we find an ethereal calm, a contemplative gaze of subjects, and dreamlike situations where the real and unreal often coexist. Dey, in the Eighties, had painted an entire series of works on bulbous forms and flowers either suspended in air, or flying across, or germinating from the land beneath. In Dream Flight, the mushrooming floral forms sprout and blossom from the earth, almost in conversation with the female figure while another figure floats in the sky.
