Known for his figurative paintings and murals, Arup Das also created interesting abstractionist imagery that was clearly derived from human figures, birds, and beasts. A prolific artist, Das was proficient in handling various mediums, as is evident in this image. While the human figures in Das’s paintings were situated within societal, historical, cultural and natural frameworks, his abstract work, too, evolved from similar artistic edifice, bearing in mind all that was impacting the artist in the course of his creative journey.
