In this intense and busy Untitled watercolour painting, which Nikhil Biswas fills with the strength and control of his brushstrokes, we see a central figure, a graceful dancer, seated amid a grove. He combines his interest in landscapes with the figurative, situating a female figure in the centre but without taking away from the bewitching beauty of the countryside. Interestingly, Biswas approached both genres—landscape and figuration—in various styles, of which this painting is a fine example.
