S. K. Bakre, primarily a sculptor, returned to India from England in 1988, choosing to retire to the countryside in coastal Maharashtra where he continued to work in near oblivion. In George Bernard Shaw, a playwright he admired, the artist potentialises the human form by transforming it into a novel puzzle with distortion, fragmentation and partial elimination. It is prominently executed in a sculptural manner depicting geometrical grids and abstracted forms. The vivid colour palette is used to highlight the contrast of straight and curved lines, creating a sculptural effect.
