Between the real and the fantastical, Vision of Innocence creates here a mysterious, horrifying and a highly uncomfortable moment that reveals how ‘innocence’ is threatened by the lurking demons in the shape of ghastly animals. Rodents appear as branches on trees, on which leaves do not grow. We find a bigger dog-like creature scaring another weaker one. Innocence, resembling a human figure, is painted blue and appears to be sedated while an animal-demon gets ready to attack it. The two birds look on helplessly. Though uncomfortable, this is an unforgettable work.
