This shimmering painting evokes a winter afternoon in a temperate land with the trees wearing their fall colours, dappled with sunlight sneaking through the cold air. Or perhaps, a rainfall of festoons in a celebration of some victor on a city’s streets. Either way, it succeeds in invoking interpretations in the mind of the onlooker as Ambadas intended. The swift swirls of the brush as it travels down the canvas lend it character, which derives its glow due to the mixing of linseed and turpentine oils to the oil pigment that Ambadas put to good effect in his canvases.
