This minimalist work by Ambadas comes from the high noon of his abstraction where he doesn’t require too many squiggles or too much colour to express the universal truth of Maya or illusion as postulated in the ancient Indian philosophy. The even spread of squiggles across the picture plane denotes the even spread of illusion in a man’s journey through life, from birth to death, at every step. Humans have to build their lives by working their way through these illusions, which constantly underscore the ephemeral nature of life itself.
