This expressive pen and ink drawing on paper from 1939 sums up Rabindranath Tagore’s mature style in a short artistic career that he began late in his life. Consisting entirely of fine lines that seemed to have been created in some haste, they add both perspective and depth through the density the artist has chosen to use in different places, thereby showing the play of light and shadow in a work of masterly quality.
