Maner stands at the confluence of the Son and the Ganga, forty kilometres west of Patna. The tomb of the saint Makhdum Shah Daulat (d. 1616) stands in a complex that also includes a gate, a mosque, and a tank—a little-known masterpiece of Mughal architecture.
