Engraving

Gaur was one of the earliest sultanate capitals in Bengal. Revived in 1500, it flourished briefly as an independent state before being absorbed into the Mughal empire in 1576. The view shows the Dakhil Darwaza, part of the fortifications dating from the early fifteenth century.
