One of the foremost painters in the landscape genre, Kisory Roy was devoted to the academic style of art but infused it with his own visual vocabulary. Roy often did plein air paintings and his landscapes are infused with a rhythm and a sense of pure joy. He paints here a breathtakingly beautiful visual of the vast expanse of undulating hills and valleys in Kumaun. The colourful flora, lush green trees, grazing cattle, and people in the far distance—all these elements make a compelling landscape.
