Kisory Roy’s style, especially in the landscape genre, serves as a testimony to the invaluable contribution of modernists at the time. Trained specifically in the landscape genre—even though he experimented in other subjects—Roy brought a sense of refinement and maturity in his landscapes. Untitled (Darjeeling by Night) features a lone figure surrounded by trees at night-time with skies softly glowing in the moonlight. The shimmering yellow lights stream in from various buildings of this hill station revealing the artist’s command on his brushstrokes.
