In painting a family of four—a man, a woman, two children—P. T. Reddy provides us with a tender moment that all of us yearn for, long after having grown up and gone out into the world. This close-knit unit huddles together, reminding one of a pose classically associated with a photo studio. Reddy renders the group with a rare sensitivity, the pet animal in the young girl’s arms lending the painting a dimension of warmth.
