In P. T. Reddy’s abstract paintings, including this Untitled one, the geometry is unrestricted and flexible, only nominally pointing to its source, while maintaining its freedom to express a painterly language that was born from the artist’s own influences. Having worked as a set designer on films in Bombay, many of Reddy’s abstracts resemble an overview of a scene or setting. The strength of the lines in vivid colours, seen here, take charge of the surface and the dimensions to reveal Reddy’s dynamism as an artist.
