A. Ramachandran’s work from the Sixties, particularly, is evocative, conveying the sense of horror and helplessness that was witnessed by the common people living on the streets of Calcutta and other nondescript villages of West Bengal. Having dabbled in various media, Ramachandran’s artistic journey underwent considerable change as he experimented with genres, media, subjects. This Untitled etching is proof of the artist’s sincerity in experimentation while staying true to creating art that was close to his heart and emerged from his own experiences.
