Raje Gaut, the Principal Road up to Rotas Ghur, Bahar

The fort of Rohtas was a major stronghold in Bihar for the Mughals in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries but in 1764 it was surrendered to the British. The view shows part of the ascent road, with a flight of stone steps leading past a guard room.
