A student at J. J. School of Art, Bombay, where he even taught for twenty-two years before retiring and focusing more on his own art school in Karjat while continuing to paint, Prabhakar Kolte, in his artistic practice, looks closely at colour. Most of his paintings are dominated by a single colour, broken by thick lines of other pigments or with geometrical and organic patterns. This Untitled work is a classic Kolte—it is contemplative and meditative without being spiritual.
