Though not formally trained in prints, the medium attracted Bhupen Khakhar tremendously and friends from Baroda, where he lived, often remember the artist working for hours together, talking with enthusiasm about it. Though a laborious process, Khakhar didn’t stop till he got the desired result. To Khakhar, there was pure joy in understanding the technical process of printmaking, and he invariably carried a little notebook with him to sketch images that he would later use as subjects in his prints.
