Latika Katt lives in New Delhi and Varanasi, the two cities where she taught art, and which have shaped her life and career. In that sense, one could say that these are the places where she may have struck some roots, even though she insists, “I’m not the domestic kind”. This glazed ceramic work, Roots, is therefore, seminal as it alludes to not just the vegetative entity of a plant without which it cannot stand erect or even survive, but also to the most important anchorage or tether that humans look for their entire lifetime.
