A votary of naturalism, Latika Katt had a close relationship with forests while growing up as her father was a botanist in Dehradun and their home was surrounded by trees, flowers, shrubs and all kinds of nature’s wonders. She insists that her works are studies of landscapes and nature, even though some of these may be portrayals of the malaise in society. The landscapes can range from close studies of fields and produce—sugarcane, for instance, as in the work here—or space in the context of nature.
