Rainy Day exemplifies the calibre of M. S. Joshi’s painterly skills—a largely grey tone colour palette broken by the remarkable shades of red and orange, and an occasional pink and blue. He renders the painting with superb control on the paintbrush, applying the colours with a deliberate ease, a command on the lines and a quality of tremendous finesse. It is easy to feel an instant connection with the painting given the energy that it exudes.
