Murlidhar Shadashiv Joshi painted landscapes in a way that he romanced with both, the colour palette and the gentleness of the brushstrokes. He gave the surface on which he painted, be it canvas or paper, a rhythm and melody through the synchronisation of the painterly devices that came together. Doing away with the conventional colours of blue skies, blue-green waters, M. S. Joshi brings to Seabeach, Bombay a colour palette that’s largely in hues of yellows, browns, and greys and gives the painting an expressionistic style.
