G. R. Iranna, one of India’s foremost contemporary artists, is drawn to using interesting mediums for his art to show the scope and manner in which materials react. In Roots II, he overlays colours on an unusual surface—tarpaulin—to show how the painting gets visually energised with the interesting colour palette. The work on display offers healing, creating in an immediate effect, a meditative stance that is creatively enriching. Through Roots II, we come across a spiritual conversation that builds from the idea of life after death.
