Early exposure to European art, especially his training in sculpture under Vaina Daus of Yugoslavia, helped Bipin Behari Goswami develop a modernist language for his works. His concerns revolved around issues of identity and valuing cultural knowledge as an essential constituent of intellectual faculty. Therefore, even though his works were markedly modern, they carried traces of Kalighat pata-chitras in the stylisation of his voluminous figures. A couple is discernible in this Untitled bronze, with the male behind the female figure in front. They are in a cinch while a bag or a child is distinguishable at their feet.
