Verdant, green environs often make an appearance in Gogi Saroj Pal’s paintings, a throwback to her childhood spent in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, with lush vegetation and beautiful habitat. She creates in this Untitled work a homage to that land which is far removed from the concrete jungle of New Delhi where she is now based. The figure is painted on a printed sheet over which the artist has painted; she places her protagonist amidst this nurturing greenery exercising a sleight of hand that is admirable.
