Gogi Saroj Pal asserted women’s liberation through her practice, pausing to reflect on the emotional quotient of women and their standing in society. She creates here a bird-woman, the central character framed in a mirror-like manner with other similar-looking creations. Giving her protagonist wings, the artist here creates the expression of freedom. The wings offer protection to the artist’s heroine, ensuring that the vulnerable body doesn’t get harmed. Replacing the arms with wings, the bird-woman becomes Pal’s own way of expressing her feelings and emotions.
