C. Douglas’s art is a journey undertaken by the artist to understand himself, and his art, better by drawing influences from European modernists along with his mentors and contemporaries in Madras. Not only subjects but various mediums were explored by Douglas to understand how the story of colour, subject and texture unravelled on a given surface. It is this curiosity along with devotion to his art, that allowed Douglas to create works that were subjects of introspection, experimentation and an artistic investigation.
