Amitava’s work has concerned itself more with the evocative power of the visual image rather than perfecting its form, which is why, this Untitled ink on paper work grips the viewer with its busy rendition. The artist liberated himself from the constraints of expressing observed realities in his immediate surrounding long ago, which let him to explore the realm of fantasy where the world is mysterious and intangible, where he is free to have imaginary conversations, at a time when the real world was in a state of great flux and he himself was struggling to find his mojo as an artist.
