This Untitled etching comes from the early years of Devraj Dakoji’s career and its most striking aspect is its bright colour palette, which seems to derive from the rich hues of his native Andhra Pradesh and the equally colourful Gujarat, where he studied at M. S. University, Baroda. Divided into two horizontal planes—which are not a mirror image of each other—it depicts an internal and external composition of one whole entity. While both are complex, the external projected image is starkly different from what the entity experiences inside.
