Bishamber Khanna’s mountain village came about as part of the artist’s frequent forays into the Himalayas where he would return to paint en plein-air. Here, the viewer is introduced to a cul-de-sac which acts like a side yard for the neighbourhood’s homes with a woman attending to some chores as she squats on the floor. A brilliant blue sky above stretches over the habitation with an unseen sun adding a dazzling quality of light to the buildings and trees.
