Dry pigments with oil and acrylic mediums on canvas
Irrespective of the Indian titles of Natvar Bhavsar’s large-sized canvases, the Western viewer has long admired his colour-field abstractions for their pure play of colours—often monochromatic with one dominant tone surrounded or streaked by others. This work assumes significance for its flaming orange encasing a shimmer of white and yellow, distinctly alluding to the month of its title corresponding to May-June, when most of India is aflame with the sun at its fiercest.
