It was in the Sixties that Akkitham Narayanan became drawn to tantra abstraction works, which he saw in an exhibition in Delhi. Later, he started experimenting with geometrical patterns in his own art, creating an impressive body of work with the use of triangles, circles, squares and their variations, juxtaposed with lines in an unmeditated configuration. These are works that are mysterious, framed in colours that are typically seen in rural Indian homes, where such designs are drawn on the floor or on the walls.
