Satish Sinha was a master of the realistic expression of human anatomy, and a large body of his work comprised drawings and sketches of young women, unclothed or otherwise, engaged in various daily chores. His felicity with the lines depicting the body’s contours shone forth irrespective of the medium. This Untitled nude study catches a woman in a contemplative moment. Despite the frontal display of a taut, young body, it’s the faraway expression on her face that makes it a work of art and not a voyeuristic tool for the pleasure of men.
