Baroda and Goa-based Nataraj Sharma is known for his investigation of fraught relationships between landscape, urbanisation and humans trying to keep pace with modernity. In this context, his series of paintings and prints titled Playground, of which this work is a part, assumes significance for its exploration of man in collision with science and nature, which he expresses through repetition of figures in set patterns achieved digitally, alluding to the mechanisation of human endeavour, not just to make life easier, but also to push the body to get faster, stronger, higher.
