One wonders if Abalal Rahiman, through this Untitled work, wanted to capture the infamous 1803 fire of Bombay that would completely change the city’s landscape? The raging flames, bursting through the doors and windows of a mill even as people struggle to save themselves, reveal the horror of the tragedy unfolding in front of the viewer through this work of art. The blackened dense clouds juxtaposed with the orange flames, add weight to this work, highlighting Rahiman’s proficiency as an academic realist.
