K. S Radhakrishnan’s pyramidal trapezium consists almost entirely of scores of inverted figures poised over bars on which they balance with their arms, their feet defying gravity as they soar upwards. While two faces of the pyramid are populated by these bodies, the other two are composed like a wall in which the same figures seem embedded—only, they are the right way up here. The free-flying figures are often shown striving for a higher consciousness, oblivious to the rest. They are a mark of one’s ability to rise, even if the journey is sometimes funnelled through challenges.
