Thin, flute-like figures in a state of motion from K. S. Radhakrishnan’s works are as well-known as the artist himself. He has made various compositions with these figures—solitary, the famous twosome Musui and Maiya, and in groups. Their sizes have ranged from small as in the Untitled work here, to big monumental ones. The figures in this work are in a rushed, staggering motion towards a destination, their animation hinting at an emotional journey. The fact that all of life’s journeys come with pitfalls is expressed through a big circular hole in the middle of the ground on which the figures walk.
