Manu Parekh, in the course of his artistic career, experimented with several genres, and many of his paintings, including this Untitled one, have an innate sexual imagery that bursts forth on the canvas. The figuration, too, moves away from the conventional trope of academic realism, created in a manner that almost feels surreal and abstract, depending on what Parekh chooses to create. The artist’s works come from a plethora of influences and his own response to nature, daily life, social issues and his deep empathy with humanity.
