An early painting from Anjolie Ela Menon’s career serves to remind us of B. Prabha’s fisherfolk usually painted in similar tones. The elongated figures in the work have an elegance and dignity with which the artist imbues their personality. The boats in the background and the fish in hand do well to remind us of the origins of the woman and child, but the blossom worn insouciantly in her hair points to an ebullient personality unencumbered by social restraints.
